My grandmother Rosalynn Carter passed away this afternoon. Even though she was 96, and even though she lived one of the best lives anybody could ask for, it’s still hard. She was a wonderful First Lady, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. I put together an episode with my initial thoughts about how her legacy of caregiving and her advocacy through her Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers helped us through her final months. Josh, your grandmother is a remarkable woman, who captured the world’s love for her example, character, dedication, compassion, good humor, and smarts.
Josh, your grandmother was always a woman of much grace and integrity. She was a wonderful First Lady, admired and respected around the world. After your grandfather’s term as President, both of your grandparents continued to share so much of themselves with their country and the world, always finding ways to help others. My heart goes out to all of the Carter family, especially you, Sarah, Charlie, and Jonathan who I am fortunate to count as my friends.
Josh – I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your grandmother, Rosalynn Carter. She was truly an amazing woman and lady in every sense of the word.
Both my parents, Bert & Neta Oberry, loved your parents and enjoyed going down to Plains, GA and hearing President Jimmy Carter, teach in his Sunday School classes. My parents were both raised in a very small southern city in Willacoochee, GA, and later in their retirement moved to Cochran, GA. Sadly I lost my own father back in 2019.
